Disturbed areas; native of w. North America. Widespread and common in PA. Many earlier reports of A. retroflexus may actually pertain to this species.

There are currently no Georgia county collection records for this species, although these photos came from along the Oostanaula River (Ridge Ferry Park) in downtown Rome, Georgia (Floyd Co.).
